Mark 2:12b
Isn’t it amazing how years can go by without seeing any sign of supernatural life—or any miracle you’re even aware of?
As a child and into my teen years, I grew up in a very traditional minister’s home. My dad was a pastor. One day, after reading the Bible and seeing all the miracles Jesus did—how people’s lives were completely transformed—I came across John 14:12 where Jesus said we would do the same works He did, and even greater.
I was so blown away that I ran to my dad and asked,
“Why aren’t we seeing these things now?”
He looked at me, smiled, and said,
“Because we’re Baptist!”
We laughed together in that moment, and I’ll never forget it.
My dad lived 97 years on this earth and has been in heaven now for several years. I loved him deeply. But even back then, I respectfully said,
“Dad, with all due respect… aren’t we believers first?
Didn’t Jesus command us to be His disciples?
Isn’t our first loyalty to Him—and not to a denomination?”
I later had the privilege of serving with a leader who actually believed we were called to do the same works Jesus did—by the ability God gives us through the Holy Spirit. His name was Dave Duell.
I helped him establish his first church and became his first worship leader. We saw so many people healed and so many miracles that it nearly became commonplace.
Years later, after Dave moved to heaven, I was speaking to a new generation. I shared stories of what I had seen and experienced—and then I asked them:
“How many of you have never seen a miracle?”
So many hands went up…
It honestly shocked me.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I fought to hold them back.
One student had a severe hip issue—her leg was 4 to 6 inches shorter than the other. I invited her to come into the middle of the circle, surrounded by the other students.
Together, we watched as her leg grew out—matching the other perfectly.
Jesus didn’t just call us to teach the gospel—He called us to demonstrate it in power.
The apostle Paul said:
“I didn’t come to you with man’s wisdom,
but with power and demonstration of the Holy Spirit.”
This is what we need once again.
Let’s stop just talking about it—and start doing it.
Don’t let what you don’t know stop you from what you do know.
Just like in Jesus’ day, when the crowd saw a paralyzed man healed, they exclaimed:
“We’ve never seen anything like this!”
Let’s not let it be said of this generation that they’ve never experienced:
The power of God
The anointing of the Holy Spirit
The miracles God wants you to be involved in
You’re not waiting for God to move.
God is waiting for you to move.
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.”
— John 14:12
Let’s go into all the world and never again let it be said:
“We never saw anything like this!”
Blessings!
Daniel
